EisnerAmper’s Outsourced Services - Real Estate group has experienced significant growth and is seeking a real estate accounting professional with expertise using Real Estate platforms such as Yardi, AppFolio and Intacct.  This individual will report to the Manager of Property Accounting and will be responsible for servicing real estate clients and managing multi entity portfolios of properties, both commercial and/or residential.  You will be responsible for managing a team of accountants who perform back-office accounting functions for clients. 

The ideal candidate must be a meticulous leader who can manage all aspects of a client engagement, train team members, take ownership, develop relationships with both clients and team, and manage work quality and profitability. This position requires full participation in department initiatives, providing technical training and mentoring to the department members and business partners as appropriate while consistently demonstrating EisnerAmper values.

The team, which is part of the firm’s Outsourced Finance & Accounting practice, provides outsourced accounting services utilizing cloud-based accounting solutions for small to midsized companies, startups, and family offices.  Cloud accounting utilizes state-of-the-art cloud-based accounting applications that are integrated seamlessly with client’s bank accounts and other cloud-based systems such as ecommerce platforms, bill pay solutions, and HR/payroll systems

What you’ll be doing:

  • Make appropriate journal entries to record mortgage, payroll, utilities, management fees, property insurance and property taxes and other cash transactions

  • Perform bank reconciliations (operating, security deposit, escrow accounts)

  • Perform monthly financial review, accrual accounting and GL reclasses

  • Perform reconciliations of the balance sheet accounts

  • Perform in-depth review of the income statement

  • Perform actual-to-budget variance analysis

  • Perform management fee calculations and processing

  • Perform Distribution calculations and processing

  • Prepare monthly financial statement package for ownership to include balance sheet, profit & loss statement, statement of cash flows (if applicable), and bank reconciliations

  • Prepare quarterly financial reporting to fulfill lender compliance requirements

  • Maintain related schedules (property insurance and taxes, compliance, etc.)

  • Act as liaison to external auditors by explaining journal entries and financial transactions, provide research data and information as requested, and answer questions necessary to complete the audit in a timely manner.

  • Submit wires, ACHs, and internal bank transfers

  • Maintain task management and workpapers in Blackline

  • Development and uploads of budgets

  • Maintain job costing schedules and prepare construction draw packages

  • Have technical knowledge of lease accounting

  • Maintain CAM and operation escalation schedules

  • Maintain task management and workpapers in Blackline

We’re looking for someone who has:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, or related field

  • 3+ years’ experience in real estate managing multiple properties entities – commercial, residential, and new construction

  • Proficiency/working knowledge of Sage Intacct, and/or Yardi is required

  • Experience working with task management and workpaper system (Blackline, Floqast)

  • Experience working with Appfolio and/or Avid Exchange is a bonus

For NYC, the expected salary range for this position is between $67,840.00 and $105,667.20. The range for the position in other geographies may vary based on market differences. The actual compensation will be determined based on experience and other factors permitted by law.
